Here's your Dummy Well the brouhaha over the alleged (there for legal reasons - we know what we saw) punch by Clint Newland on Neemia Tialata is all over the media this morning. The big city media types with egg on their face after saying that Wellington just had to turn up to McLean Park to collect 5 points in the Air New Zealand Cup match are screaming with indignation and are sounding like a lynch mob.As Corporal Manwaring from Dad's Army used to say "they don't like it up em" Toby Robson from the Dom Post had this to say on Saturday Hawke's Bay won't beat Wellington, but the home side will have far more to gain than the visitors in their Air New Zealand Cup match at McLean Park in Napier today.
A big Wellington win is expected on the back of the Lions' 68-7 round one thumping of Otago and anything short of another romp will meet accusations of inconsistency, underperformance and overconfidence. Magpies to face Lions test Well good thing the Hawkes Bay Lads don't read that kind of dribble. The perfect follow up to this article is this piece from Jim Kayes in today's Dom Post, which paints Neemia Tialata as a saint. Felled All Black prop angry over punch
Tialata was stunned when told yesterday that his lineout tactics had provoked the punch. Stunned - well it's obvious that is why he got clobbered. See the images below.
He suggested that everyone stepped off their line in a lineout and was adamant it was not a reason to king-hit someone.
Everyone may step off their line - but not everyone takes out a lifter. We do agree however - it's not a reason to king hit someone - but - if you live by the sword - you die by the sword. It's disingenuous to say that Tialata wasn't totally blameless in incurring wrath. "I don't know what their tactics were. I didn't see it (the punch) coming. I feel it's crap. I go out there to play the game, not to fight. If he's going to be like that, he is playing the wrong code. It would have been fair if I'd done something wrong to upset him, but it looks like he just has a problem with me."
Excuse me!! Um cast your mind back to a certain Super 14 game against the Crusaders in Wellington in 2006.

Sorry but that is not playing the game either Mr Tialata - you can't claim the moral high ground with your interpretation of clean rugby.
Maybe you are also playing the wrong game? So please find your dummy in the post. Leave your thoughts ... on the ... Magpie Forum.
