FORMER . . . Magpie and Junior AB prop Pat Benson described last weekend’s game against Waikato as the best Hawke’s Bay game he’s ever seen at the Cage of Rage (McLean Park). That’s some statement when you consider how long “Bobo” has been around the rugby scene in Hawke’s Bay.
ONE . . . has to ask how many hoarse, sore throated Magpie rugby supporters were there around last Sunday? The near non existent sound coming from the mouth of my next door neighbour Craig Todd was testament that he, just like our boys in Black and White had given his all for 80 minutes!
Either that, or not enough Tui’s Toddy.
AS . . . for myself, I have to admit due to a prior commitment I was in Auckland last weekend (Steely Dan concert) and didn’t find out till near midnight that we’d beaten Waikato. But how’s this? Come Monday morning at 1.30am I got up and watched a replay of the Magpies vs Waikato game rather than watch the AB’s take on Scotland. LET’S . . . hope there’s a D-Day type invasion of Palmy by Magpie supporters this Saturday. I’ve heard on the Tuivine the Manawapoo Turbo’s are gunning for us. The thing that worries me now is our boys might just have the following week’s semi on their mind and be vunerable. JUST . . . a word of warning to Magpie supporters heading to Palmy. Don’t try and copy their supporters wearing of buckets, you’ll get crucified if you do. AND . . . finally. Just who out of Southland and Waikato would we prefer to face in a semi final. I’d like to see us give Southland another tune up, it would sort of round out the season nicely. Whoever it is, just bring it on and Come On the Bay! Cheers McGoo |
