A tragic end to a successful Junior Rugby World Cup for Hawke's Bay rugby player Zac Guildford.

His father, Rob died in the stands during the final in Tokyo.

The New Zealand under 20 team beat England 44 - 24 to defend the title they won last year in Wales. Guildford scored two tries in the final.

Coach Peter Russell says Zac's parents always followed his rugby career and it is a huge loss for him. He says the team's thoughts are with the family.

We all wish him and his family all the best.
